What is this review?

This review has been developed according to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) X9 encryption standards. Most networks require a biennial review of members to ensure that keys, key components, and key loading or storage devices are properly managed.  This is to prevent a security exposure which, if exploited, could result in losses to the consumer and acquiring and issuing financial institution.

Who needs to have this review?

If a Financial Institution, ISO, or retail store, performs any of the following they must have the review completed:

  • Drive ATM’s/POS devices
  • Store and/or load encryption keys or key components (including comvelopes)
  • Translate and validate encrypted PINs

Why do this review?

This review is required by EFT networks to ensure compliance with the network operating guidelines.  It helps protect your debit customers from compromised  transactions and also helps to protect your business reputation. Failure to adhere may result in fines and/or loss of processing rights and expose the entity to litigation. Most courts have found a case of gross negligence when defendents have evaded the performance of due diligence in the protection of assets.

How long does it take to complete?

Our experienced staff can assist you in improving your key management controls, completing the review, and developing a report of findings usually in one day, depending upon the size and complexity of your debit network.  Report completion, submission, and follow-thru work is completed offsite by the reviewer subsequent to the onsite review.
